Outreached Arms is a faith-based homeless ministry in Pittsburgh, but our work is not measured only by meals served or supplies handed out. It is measured in people who feel seen again. People who take a next step. People who find hope when life feels heavy.
Mike’s Story: From Hunger to Hope
Mike first came to Outreached Arms 16 years ago hungry, homeless, and hopeless. He was carrying the weight of survival, uncertainty, and discouragement. Like many of the neighbors we serve, Mike needed a meal. But he also needed people who would see him, know him, and walk with him over time.
Through the years, Outreached Arms has had the privilege of walking alongside Mike through many seasons. Our team helped him work toward housing, get his finances in order, and receive steady mentoring, encouragement, and support.
What started with a meal became a long-term relationship. Mike was not treated like a project. He was treated like a person with dignity, value, and a future worth fighting for.
Today, Mike is no longer only someone we serve. He is part of the serving team. He volunteers faithfully on Tuesday nights and throughout the week, helping with whatever is asked of him. His life is a reminder that hope grows when people keep showing up.
Mike’s story is why Outreached Arms keeps serving. A meal matters. A relationship matters. Mentoring matters. Housing support matters. Financial stability matters. Faithful presence over many years matters.
