Impact Is More Than Numbers
Outreached Arms is a faith-based homeless ministry in Pittsburgh, but our work is not measured only by meals served or supplies handed out. It is measured in people who feel seen again. People who take a next step. People who find hope when life feels heavy.
From Hunger to Hope
When J first came to Outreached Arms, he came for dinner. He was tired, guarded, and carrying more than most people could see. Like many of our guests, he needed food. But he also needed dignity, encouragement, and someone willing to learn his name.
Over time, volunteers began to recognize him. They asked how he was doing. They remembered small details. They listened without rushing him. What started as a meal became a relationship.
One night, J opened up about how hard life had become. He shared about the weight of discouragement, the fear of starting over, and the loneliness that comes when people stop seeing you as a person. Our team prayed with him, encouraged him, and helped him think through his next step.
Stories like this are why Outreached Arms keeps showing up. A meal matters. A clean shirt matters. A prayer matters. A conversation matters. A person being called by name matters.
